I painted this under pure rage. Rage, sadness, impotence.
Colombia was burning—literally and metaphorically. Protesters in the streets, students, workers, everyday people being killed, while the government, the military, the church, the upper class… all of them stood there—complicit. Smiling. Distracting.
Pan y circo. Bread and circus.
And under the red skirt of La Justicia, the bodies were swept away.
This painting held that chaos. The cartel, the priests, the corrupt politicians, the rich elite, all playing music as if nothing was happening. Meanwhile, the real Colombia, mi gente, were on fire.
I couldn't keep this painting. One night, after sitting with all that pain, I destroyed it. It no longer exists. What you see here is just the ghost of it.
If you're seeing it marked as “sold”, it’s not. I just had no other option on the website to show that it’s gone.
Gone by my own hand, out of love and grief.

That still echoes.
