No signal

“No Signal” is about emotional disconnection — that moment when you are still alive, still breathing, but unable to reach what you feel. I painted a figure that looks alert, almost alarmed, yet deeply cut off. The eyes are open, searching, but nothing is coming through. Love, grief, loss, uncertainty — they are all there, but the connection has failed.

The phone on the left is essential. The character is trying to make a call — not to another person, but to his own heart. The cable runs through the body like a lifeline, carrying emotion, memory, and energy. It loops inside him, trying to connect mind and heart. Then the line is cut. Where it breaks, there is blood. This is not a technical failure; it’s a wound. Disconnection hurts.

The heart sits outside the body, exposed and vulnerable, no longer protected by the ribcage. It still exists, still beats, but it can’t be reached. Communication has been interrupted. The character wants to speak to his heart, to understand it, to feel again — but there is no signal.

The halo above the head suggests the idea of redemption, or at least the hope of it. It hovers, uncertain, not fully grounded. This painting comes from moments of loss and emotional overload, when feelings become too heavy and the only way to survive is to shut down.

“No Signal” is not about emptiness — it’s about interruption. About waiting, wounded but alive, for the moment when the line can be repaired and the heart finally answers back.
