Pirate

£1,000.00

“Pirate” is about the way I choose to see the world. It’s about utopia, love, dreams, and romanticism — not as fantasies, but as decisions. I’ve always felt closer to the pirate than to the hero. Someone who lives outside the system, guided by instinct and conviction rather than rules imposed by others.

I stripped the body down to its bones because that’s where my dreams live — when everything else is taken away. The heart is exposed because I’ve never learned how to protect it properly. I believe in love even when it hurts, even when it costs me. Around the figure, the red crosses feel like all the doors that were closed to me, all the times I was told no, that’s impossible, that doesn’t exist.

The pirate stands anyway. That’s me. Still believing, still imagining, still choosing poetry over logic. The dripping paint, the chaos of colour, the imperfect lines — they reflect how fragile and messy my idea of utopia is. It leaks, it breaks, it bleeds, but it’s real.

This painting is a declaration. I would rather live as a dreamer than belong to a world without imagination. Being a pirate means accepting that I may never arrive where I thought I was going — but continuing to sail, because love, hope, and romanticism are the only compass I trust.
