The last poet.

“The Last Poet” — by MAAS

This painting is dedicated to one of the artists who has hypnotised me time and time again — with his voice, his music, but above all with his raw emotion. Tom Waits is one of the few members of that invisible club of bohemian dreamers that live inside me. He is part of my alter ego.

They are all there, deep in my head. We meet more often than people might think. In the blink of an eye, we can spend hours philosophising, mourning, celebrating, and hurting. We talk about emotions and bastard feelings that haven’t even been born yet.

The Last Poet is my way of honouring that space, Is hanging right there by the door of that internal room where art, pain, humour, love, and darkness sit together without judgement. It’s a portrait of influence, of companionship, and of the voices that keep me company when the world goes quiet.
